Hammond PJHMI2016CCL 20x16 Clear HMI Hinged Cover, Lockable Snap Latch

The PJHMI2016CCL is a clear polycarbonate HMI hinged cover kit with a snap latch closure, part of the PJHMI Series. It mounts over an opening in an enclosure wall to protect instruments or electronics requiring routine attention or detail. Because the cover is clear polycarbonate thermoplastic, the display behind it stays visible while the cover is closed. Its latch has a padlock feature to prevent unintentional opening.

The frame measures 19.85 in (504 mm) high by 16.07 in (408 mm) wide by 2.27 in (58 mm) deep (nominal size 20 in x 16 in x 2 in (508 mm x 406 mm x 51 mm)), and the viewing area is 18.49 in (470 mm) by 14.71 in (374 mm). Maximum panel cutout is 18.49 x 14.71 in, and it will fit Allied Moulded enclosure sizes 24x24 and larger. Shipping weight is 10 lbs (4.54 kg).

The box is injected polycarbonate and the cover is injected polycarbonate, hung on a 316 stainless steel hinge pin and sealed by a Formed-In-Place (FIP) polyurethane gasket in a continuous channel. The closure is two 316 stainless steel lockable snap latches; a replacement snap latch is available as part number PCJLLRSH. It is UV stabilized for outdoor use, with a service temperature of -31°F (-35°C) to 266°F (130°C).

To install, mark and drill the mounting holes at 7/32 or #2 (.220 dia) (hole pattern HMI206), cut the opening, clean the surface and gasket, and mount with the supplied hardware torqued to 15 - 20 in-lbs using a Phillips screwdriver or similar tool. The hardware suits surfaces .059" to .250" thick. Two hardware kits are included (18 fasteners needed), each kit with ten 10-32 x 1 pan head screws, ten stainless steel washer rivets and ten 10-32 nylon-insert nuts.

The PJHMI2016CCL is a listed UL component (UL File E487574) for use with enclosures rated Types 1, 3, 3R, 4, 4X, 12 or 13, and is CSA listed Type 1, 3, 3R, 4, 4X, 12 or 13. It is RoHS and REACH compliant. Optional prop arm: PJHMIPROP2016; the opaque version of this kit is PJHMI2016L.
