Hammond PJ18168L 18 x 16 x 8 in Snap Latch Fiberglass Enclosure

The PJ18168L is one of the larger snap-latch sizes in the PJ Series: a Type 4X fiberglass reinforced polyester wallmount enclosure measuring 18.40 x 16.40 x 8.13 in (467 x 417 x 207 mm). It is built for instrument enclosures, electrical junction boxes, terminal wiring enclosures and electric, hydraulic or pneumatic control housings where equipment may be hosed down or be very wet, or where high temperatures and highly corrosive conditions are present.

The box and cover are compression molded fiberglass reinforced polyester with a gray finish and enhanced UV inhibitors for outdoor weathering, and can be easily punched, cut or drilled. The drawing gives a 0.14 in (3.57 mm) wall thickness. A continuous 316 stainless steel hinge supports the door, two lockable 316 stainless steel draw-type snap latches close it, and a captive oil resistant FIP polyurethane gasket forms the seal. The door fasteners include a provision for padlocking.

The optional P1868 inner panel is 16.88 x 14.88 in (429 x 378 mm) and mounts on four #10-32 brass inserts with plated carbon steel screws, hardware included. Panel materials offered are white powder coated steel, unfinished aluminum and fiberglass; the drawing shows the fiberglass back panel at 0.250 in (6.35 mm) thick. Four 316 stainless steel feet attach to rear brass inserts for wall mounting.

The PJ18168L is UL 508A listed Type 1, 2, 3, 4, 4X, 12 and 13, cUL listed per CSA 22.2 No. 94 to the same types, and complies with IEC 60529 IP66. It is rated for 130°C to -40°C (266°F to -40°F), has a 6.78 J (5 ft/lb) impact index, is RoHS and REACH compliant, and ships at 16 lbs (7.26 kg).
