At 16.27 x 14.40 x 8.13 in (413 x 366 x 207 mm), the PJ16148 is a deep lift-off screw-cover enclosure in the PJ Type 4X polyester series. It gives room for control components and terminations in instrument enclosures, electric, hydraulic or pneumatic control housings, junction boxes and terminal wiring enclosures that must cope with hose-down, very wet, high-temperature or highly corrosive conditions.
The box and cover are compression molded fiberglass reinforced polyester, gray, with enhanced UV inhibitors for outdoor weathering, and the material is easily punched, cut or drilled. The PJ16148 drawing calls out four #10-32 brass inserts with stainless steel captive cover screws and retaining O-rings, plus a closed cell neoprene gasket.
Its optional inner panel is 14R1513, measuring 14.75 x 12.88 in (375 x 327 mm), mounted on four #10-32 brass inserts with plated carbon steel screws. The drawing lists back panel thicknesses of 0.100 in aluminum, 0.075 in white steel and galvannealed, and 0.125 in fiberglass.
Four stainless steel mounting feet fasten to brass inserts on the rear with stainless screws; overall length over the feet is 17.82 in (452.63 mm) and each foot has a 0.34 in (8.74 mm) hole. The enclosure is UL 508A and cUL (CSA 22.2 No. 94) listed for Type 1, 2, 3, 4, 4X, 12 and 13, complies with IEC 60529 IP66, operates between 130°C and -40°C (266°F to -40°F) and has a 6.78 J (5 ft/lb) impact index.
