Hammond PJ12124 12x12x4 Fiberglass Type 4X/6P Junction Box

The PJ12124 is a square, shallow Type 4X polyester junction box with a lift-off screw cover. The PJ Series table lists it at 12.13 in H x 12.13 in W x 4.13 in D (308 x 308 x 105 mm), while the part page gives 12.32 x 12.32 x 4 in (313 x 313 x 102 mm). It is designed for instrument enclosures, electric, hydraulic or pneumatic control housings, electrical junction boxes and terminal wiring enclosures in wet or hose-down conditions.

The box and cover are compression molded fiberglass reinforced polyester with a gray finish and a 0.13 in (3.30 mm) wall thickness on the drawing. The material is easily punched, cut or drilled, and enhanced UV inhibitors protect against outdoor weathering. Four 316 stainless steel captive cover screws with retaining O-rings thread into #10-32 brass inserts, compressing a captive, oil resistant FIP polyurethane gasket for a positive seal.

Four 316 stainless steel feet attach to brass inserts at the rear with 316 stainless steel screws; the drawing shows 13.96 in (354.66 mm) overall height with feet. The optional 14R1111 inner panel, 10.75 x 10.88 in (273 x 276 mm), or a terminal kit fits on #10-32 threaded brass inserts, with mounting hardware included. Shipping weight is 7 lbs (3.18 kg).

This lift-off cover model is marked Type 6P/IP68 in the series table, together with UL 508A and cUL Type 1, 2, 3, 4, 4X, 12 and 13 and IEC 60529 IP66. It is rated for 130°C to -40°C (266°F to -40°F) and is RoHS and REACH compliant. The hinged version is PJ12124H.
