Hammond HYW242012SS 24x20x12 In Hygienic Type 4X Stainless Enclosure

The HYW242012SS is the deepest of the three 24 x 20 in enclosures in the HYW Series of Hygienic Type 4X Stainless Steel Wallmount Enclosures, at 12 in deep. It is designed to enclose electrical and electronic equipment and protect it against harsh, hygienic environments, and suits wallmount builds that need more internal depth.

Construction starts with formed, smooth 304 stainless steel, with every seam continuously welded and ground smooth and a natural #4 dairy finish on the cover and body. A 25° sloped top sheds water and gives room to consider mounting controls. The door closes on 316 stainless steel quarter-turn hygienic latches that require a tool to open; stiffeners are fitted where required, and an internal alignment guide helps prevent door sag.

The internal hinge design supports easy cleaning in hose-down environments; the hinges open the door to 105 degrees and can be removed for a reverse swing or on-site work. A hygienic blue silicone gasket, replacement part HYG2420, mounts around the door edge and can be removed and re-installed for cleaning. The optional 18P2117 inner panel (21.00 in x 17.00 in, not included) mounts on the collar studs provided, using the panel mounting nuts from the included hardware kit.

This enclosure measures 24.00 in (610 mm) high at H1, 20.00 in (508 mm) wide and 12.00 in (305 mm) deep. Its drawing gives 28.89 in overall height including the sloped top, 12.86 in overall depth, a 21.25 in x 17.54 in door opening and 17.88 in x 14.17 in of clear space available on the door. It shares gasket and inner panel with the 8 in and 10 in deep versions.

With no pre-drilled wall mounting holes, the HYW242012SS can be welded in place or stood off from the wall. A bonding stud is provided on the door and a grounding stud is installed in the enclosure. It carries UL 508A and cUL Type 3R, 4, 4X and 12, meets NSF/ANSI 169, complies with IP 66, IP69 and IP69K, and ships at 62 lbs (28.12 kg).
