The CSB400 is an empty 24 in x 17 in x 6 in (610 mm x 432 mm x 152 mm) splitter box from the CSB Series, supplied without splitter blocks. It gives contractors and panel shops a larger Type 1 enclosure for indoor distribution where they want to fit the block themselves.
In the ordering table this size is rated 400/400 A (copper/aluminum) with the CSBL400 as its splitter block reference. The same box with factory-installed blocks is available as the CSB403 (3 wire) and CSB404 (4 wire). The series is designed for indoor distribution of up to 600 A (max) service at 600 V max using 3 or 4 wires, with 75 °C conductor ampacity permitted.
The enclosure is formed and spot welded from steel, and the enclosure and cover are finished in ANSI 61 gray powder coating. A hinged door with a screw closure and a padlocking hasp secure the interior. Per the drawing, the door measures 17.25 in x 24.25 in over a 16.75 in x 23.89 in door opening, and Ø0.25 in rear mounting holes sit on 14.00 in x 21.00 in centres. A series of knockouts is provided on each side.
The CSB400 is CSA Type 1 and complies with IEC 60529 IP20. It is REACH and RoHS compliant, ships in a box at 35 lbs (15.88 kg), and its UPC is 623980779478.
