Hammond CN4SB73 70A 3-Wire Type 4/3R Steel Splitter Box, 12x10x5

The CN4SB73 is a 70 A, 3-wire splitter box from the CN4SB series of Type 4/3R mild steel splitter boxes. It is the smallest size in the series, built for electricians and electrical contractors who need to split a 3-wire feed into multiple branch conductors inside a gasketed, hinged enclosure. The series is designed for distribution of up to 600 A (max) service at 600 V max, with 75° C conductor ampacity permitted; this size carries a CU/AL rating of 70/70 A.

The enclosure is listed at 12.00 x 10.00 x 5.00 in (305 x 254 x 127 mm) H x W x D in the series table, with a nominal size of 12 x 10 x 6 in on the part page and an overall depth of 5.85 in on the drawing. The drawing shows an 11.97 x 9.97 in door, a 10.52 x 8.39 in door opening, a 10.17 x 8.17 in inner panel and Ø0.50 in wall mounting holes on 10.50 x 8.50 in centres.

Construction is formed 16 gauge steel with smooth, continuously welded seams ground smooth, a formed lip to exclude flowing liquids and contaminants, and a seamless poured-in place gasket. Splitter blocks are factory installed (block reference CSBL125B). The hinged door uses quarter turn slot latches that require a tool to open, 304 stainless steel hinges and stainless steel hinge pins, and can be removed for modifications. The enclosure and cover are finished in recoatable smooth ANSI 61 gray powder coating; the included inner panel is white.

The CN4SB73 is CSA Type 3R, 12 and 4 rated and complies with IEC 60529, IP66. A hardware kit with panel mounting nuts and sealing washers is included, and grounding kit CGK125 is optional. It ships boxed at 12 lbs (5.44 kg).
