Hammond 269AAX 66VA 200V C.T. Plate Transformer, 6.3V Heater

The 269AAX is a 66 VA high voltage (plate) and filament power transformer from the 200 Series, listed with a 117 VAC, 60 Hz primary, for builders who need a 200V center-tapped plate supply at 250ma. plus a 6.3V heater winding.

The high voltage secondary provides 200V C.T. at 250ma., and the heater winding provides 6.3V C.T. at 2.5A. The drawing labels the primary taps white-gray for 115V 60Hz and white-black for 125V. Electrical test data at 125V, 60Hz (white-black) lists 186mA excitation current and no-load voltages of 114.6V (white-gray), 213.3V (red-red), 106.7V (each half of the HV winding), 6.757V (green-green) and 3.378V (each half of the heater), all ±20%. DC resistances are 5.557 ohms (white-gray), 6.134 ohms (white-black), 24.90 ohms (red-red) and 95 mOhms (green-green), ±20%.

Hipot ratings are 1500V primary-core and 2000V between all other windings and core (60Hz, 1 sec). All leads are 22AWG, 6 in out and stripped 0.5 in minimum. It weighs 2.25 lbs ±4% per the drawing (3 lbs shipping) and is marked made in Canada.

As a 200 Series part it is an enclosed, 4 hole, chassis mount design with minimum 6 in leads and Class A insulation (105 degrees C). Units can be run full wave bridge or full wave C.T., are hi-pot tested at 2,000V RMS, and follow a conservative design that is CSA certified (209651).

The primary offers two input choices. For 115 VAC input, use the white and gray wires and tape the black wire. If line voltage runs high (roughly 125V) and the secondary voltage reads too high, use the white and black wires and tape the gray wire. Never connect power to both the gray and black wires, as instantaneous destruction of the transformer will result.

Table dimensions are A 2.50 in (64 mm), B 2.75 in (70 mm), C 3.06 in (78 mm), D 2.00 in (51 mm) and F 1.69 in (43 mm) with 0.20 x 0.38 in (5 x 10 mm) slots; the drawing shows 1.72 in for F and Ø0.203 x 0.375 in slots. The part is RoHS and REACH compliant.
