The 266G16 is an 8 VA power transformer providing 16 V at 0.5 A with its secondaries in series (center-tapped) or 8 V at 1 A in parallel. It suits chassis-built equipment that needs a 16 V or 8 V AC winding from either a 117 V or 234 V line.
The primary accepts 117 or 234 VAC at 50/60 Hz; the 266 Series connection diagrams show the primaries wired in parallel for 117 VAC and in series for 234 VAC. The secondaries can be used as a center tapped secondary (16V @ 0.5A), parallel connected (8V @ 1A) or used individually, and the unit is designed for use with all windings engaged. Every unit is hi-pot tested at 2,000V RMS.
Construction is open style with minimum 6" long leads and a dual bobbin design, so no electrostatic shield is required. Class B insulation (130 °C) is used for extra protection, and the design is UL listed as a Class A (105 °C) design.
