Hammond 182F30 225VA Toroidal Transformer, Potted Center, Dual 30V

The 182F30 is a 225 VA toroidal power transformer, listed as TOROID, 225VA, 50HZ, 30/30V. Its dual 30 V secondaries deliver 60 V center-tapped at 3.75 A in series or 30 V at 7.5 A in parallel, fed from a dual 117/234 VAC, 50/60 Hz primary. It is a strong fit for amplifier and DC power supply builders who want a low profile, cool-running toroid.

According to the specification sheet, the 182 Series will soon be discontinued as a stocked series, available while quantities last, and has been replaced with the 1182 Series.

The 182F30 has a potted centre for added mounting strength. It measures 4.97 in (126 mm) in outside diameter and 1.90 in (48 mm) high and mounts with a 1/4-20 centre bolt 2.50 in (64 mm) long. Units of 225 VA and larger are supplied with one bottom rubber insulating pad and mounting hardware (the table lists bottom rubber washer only). Weight is 4.96 lbs in the series table; shipping weight is 5 lbs (2.27 kg).

Flexible leads are at least 8 in long. Each unit is Hi-Pot tested at 4,000 V RMS between primary and secondary and is CSA certified to C22.2 #66 (file 209651), UL recognized to UL506 (file E207860) and CE certified to IEC950; the part is RoHS and REACH compliant. Because toroids can draw heavy inrush current, fit a slow-blow fuse, time delayed breaker or soft start on the supply line.
