The 1598RABK is the smallest shielded model in the 1598R family: a black, desktop instrument case for engineers who need to house a printed circuit board and keep RF noise in check. Each molded half is masked and sprayed inside with an RFI/EMI copper conductive coating, for which the coating manufacturer specifies more than 75 dB of attenuation from 1 MHz to 1 GHz.
The shell is molded from flame retardant ABS carrying a UL94 V-0 flammability rating, is designed to meet IP54, and is finished in matte textured black. Front and rear panels are 1.6 mm (0.064") brushed aluminum in alloy 5052-H32 with a protective coating on one side. The dashed viewing area on each panel measures 81.90 x 26.50 mm.
The series ordering table gives this case as 156.5 mm long, 93 mm wide and 35 mm deep, matching the drawing's overall 156.50 x 93.40 x 35.00 mm. Inside, the box is 145.70 x 84.38 x 29.50 mm and accepts a board up to 144.60 x 80.67 mm, located on four 3.51 mm bosses, while molded 1.5 mm (0.062") guides front and rear accept vertical boards. Note that the part page lists a different nominal size (201 x 135 x 51 mm); check the drawing before machining.
Case halves close with M3 Phillips machine screws into tapped brass bushings, so the 1598RABK can be opened and reassembled repeatedly. The purchased assembly includes top and bottom covers, the aluminum panels, 2 cover screws and 4 rubber feet; the PCB itself is not supplied.
