Hammond 1598JBK 279x198x76 mm Black Flame Retardant Instrument Case

The 1598JBK is a wide, 3 in tall case from the 1598 instrument enclosure line: a black flame retardant ABS clam shell with brushed aluminum front and rear panels. It gives OEM engineers and instrument builders room for a large P.C. board carrying taller components.

Nominal size is 11 in x 7.8 in x 3 in (279 mm x 198 mm x 76 mm); the drawing lists 280.10 mm x 199.50 mm x 75.80 mm overall. The inner box is 269.60 mm long, 189.64 mm wide and 68.00 mm high, and the maximum P.C. board size is 268.60 mm x 184.50 mm, aligned on bosses with eight 3.51 mm holes.

Molded from matte textured black flame retardant ABS rated UL94 V-0, the halves are joined with M3 x 0.5 x 10 mm Phillips machine screws threaded into tapped integral brass bushings, suited to repeated assembly and disassembly. The 191.30 mm x 69.50 mm end panels are 5052-H32 aluminum with an SPV coating on one side and a 185.06 mm x 67.00 mm viewing area.

Two sets of vertical 1.5 mm (0.062") board guides and horizontal card mounts on Eurocard centers are molded in; the standoffs take #6 x 1/4" (6.4 mm) screws, sold as 1598ATS100. The assembly includes top and bottom cover, aluminum panels, two cover screws and four rubber feet, with a shipping weight of 1.64 lbs (0.74 kg).

1598JBK is designed to meet IP54 and is RoHS and REACH compliant. Tilt bail kit 1598TH2 fits, and 1598RJBK is the EMI/RFI shielded version.
