Hammond 1598HBK 281x201x41 mm Black Flame Retardant Instrument Case

The 1598HBK is a wide, low-profile black instrument case from the 1598 Series, molded in flame retardant ABS and fitted with brushed aluminum end panels. At 11.06 in x 7.9 in x 1.6 in nominal (281 mm x 201 mm x 41 mm), it is sized for large, flat circuit boards in desktop controllers, interfaces and instruments.

The drawing shows overall dimensions of 280.89 mm x 199.89 mm x 41.00 mm and an inner box of 269.69 mm x 190.16 mm x 33.50 mm. Maximum P.C. board size is 268.70 mm x 184.30 mm, aligned on bosses with eight 3.51 mm mounting holes. Front and rear panels are 190.00 mm x 35.00 mm, with a 185.89 mm x 30.50 mm viewing area.

The matte textured black body is rated UL94 V-0. The halves are secured with M3 x 0.5 x 10 mm Phillips machine screws into tapped integral brass bushings, so the case stands up to repeated assembly and disassembly; spare screws are 1591MS100. The end panels are 5052-H32 aluminum with an SPV coating on one side.

Mounting options include two sets of vertical 1.5 mm (0.062") board guides and horizontal card mounts on Eurocard centers, with standoffs for #6 x 1/4" (6.4 mm) screws (1598ATS100, not included). The assembly includes top and bottom cover, aluminum panels, two cover screws and four rubber feet, and ships at 1.34 lbs (0.61 kg).

1598HBK is designed to meet IP54 and is RoHS and REACH compliant. Tilt bail kit 1598TH2 fits this size; 1598RHBK is the EMI/RFI shielded equivalent.
