Hammond 1598GSGY 249x160x76 mm Gray General Purpose Instrument Case

The 1598GSGY is a light gray general purpose ABS case and lid in the 3 in tall G size of the 1598 Series. It gives electronics hobbyists, prototype shops and OEMs a desktop clam shell housing with brushed aluminum front and rear panels where a flame retardant rating is not required.

Nominal dimensions are 9.8 in x 6.3 in x 3 in (249 mm x 160 mm x 76 mm); the drawing shows 249.70 x 159.00 x 75.00 mm overall. The inner box is 239.50 mm long, 149.14 mm wide and 68.00 mm high, and it accepts a P.C. board up to 238.50 mm x 143.57 mm aligned on bosses with four 3.51 mm holes.

Being the general purpose version, it is molded from GPABS with a UL94 HB rating, and the halves are secured with self tapping screws into plastic standoffs. That makes it best for enclosures closed once and left, rather than repeatedly opened; replacement #4 x 5/8" (15.9 mm) cover screws are 1591TS100.

The front and rear panels are 151.00 mm x 69.50 mm (viewing area 145.90 x 67.00 mm) in 5052-H32 aluminum with an SPV coating on one side. Two sets of vertical 1.5 mm (0.062") board guides and horizontal card mounts on Eurocard centers give mounting options, with standoffs accepting #6 x 1/4" screws (1598ATS100, not included). The assembly ships with two cover screws and four rubber feet.

1598GSGY is designed to meet IP54 and is RoHS and REACH compliant, with a shipping weight of 1.14 lbs (0.52 kg).
