Hammond 1598ASGYPBK Gray 157x93x35 mm ABS Case, Black Plastic Ends

The 1598ASGYPBK is the general purpose version of the 1598 series ABS clam shell instrument enclosure, in light grey. It is a desktop electronic instrument case ideally suited for mounting printed circuit boards. It uses the compact 157 x 93 x 35 mm size and swaps the aluminum panels for black plastic ones.

The part page lists a UL94 V-0 flame rating, while the drawing groups 1598ASGYPBK under non-flame-retardant GPABS (UL94-HB) and the series table lists it as the general purpose version; confirm the rating against the drawing where flammability matters. The halves are secured with self tapping screws threaded into plastic standoffs, which the manufacturer does not recommend for repeated assembly and disassembly (replacement screws: 1591TS100, #4 x 5/8" / 15.9 mm). The enclosure is designed to meet IP54. This version pairs the light grey enclosure with black plastic end panels (replacement pair 1598PLABK; aluminum pair 1598PLA-AL). The drawing's assembly note lists top and bottom covers, end panels, 2 cover screws and 4 rubber feet.

The series table lists 6.18 in (157 mm) long, 3.66 in (93 mm) wide and 1.38 in (35 mm) deep; the part page lists 6.1 in x 3.6 in x 1.4 in (155 mm x 91 mm x 36 mm), and the drawing shows 156.50 mm [6.161 in] x 93.40 mm [3.677 in] x 35.00 mm [1.378 in] overall. Two sets of vertical 1.5 mm (0.062") PC board guides are molded into the front and rear of the case halves, with integral horizontal PC card mounts on Eurocard centers and 4 PCB bosses of 3.51 mm diameter. The standoffs require #6 x 1/4" (6.4 mm) screws, not included (order 1598ATS100).

The 1598ASGYPBK is RoHS and REACH compliant and ships shrink wrapped. Factory modification is available and solid models come in STEP or IGES.
