Hammond 1594RFIEBK 167 x 107 mm Conductive Plastic Shielded Enclosure

The 1594RFIEBK is the largest enclosure in the 1594RFI series, a 167 x 107 mm black box molded from conductive plastic for EMI/RFI shielding applications. It gives designers and OEM engineers room for bigger circuit boards or multi-board assemblies that need shielding, while keeping a plastic enclosure form factor. The drawing identifies it as the black conductive plastic EMI/RFI shielded version of the 1594E enclosure.

The plastic is a conductive compound of stainless steel fibers and flame retardant ABS, rated UL94 V-0, with thick walls averaging 0.13 in (3.3 mm) per series data and a matte textured black finish. Like the rest of the series, the material is brittle, similar to phenolic, and not for high impact use.

The ordering table lists 6.57 in (167 mm) long, 4.21 in (107 mm) wide and 2.56 in (65 mm) deep. The part page gives a nominal size of 6.6 x 4.2 x 2.1 in (168 x 107 x 53 mm), and the drawing shows an assembly of 166.97 x 106.97 mm with a height of 64.85 mm. Shipping weight is 0.64 lbs (0.29 kg).

On the 1594RFIEBK the countersunk lid fastens with four M3-0.5 x 18mm long Philips machine screws into integral brass bushings; the drawing shows four M3x0.5 - 6H x 5.75 threaded holes in brass inserts. Replacement screws are 1594MS100 (pack of 100). The enclosure is designed to meet IP54 and is REACH and RoHS compliant. Because it is conductive, it must be treated like a metal enclosure and insulated from the user. Solid models are available in .stp or .x_t, and factory modification (milling, drilling, printing) can be quoted.
