Hammond 1594RABK 56mm Square EMI/RFI Shielded ABS Enclosure

The 1594RABK is the smallest enclosure in the 1594R Thick-Wall Plastic Enclosures w/ EMI/ RFI Shielding series. It is a rugged electronic instrument enclosure ideally suited for mounting printed circuit boards, for designers of compact circuits that need shielding against electromagnetic and radio-frequency interference in a 56 x 56 mm footprint.

The interior of each enclosure part is specially masked and sprayed with an RFI/EMI copper conductive coating, and the coating manufacturer specifies an attenuation of more than 75 dB from 1 MHz to 1 GHz. The body is molded from flame retardant ABS plastic with a UL94 V-0 rating, with a heavy duty wall averaging .13 in (3.3 mm) and a black matte textured finish.

Listed size is 2.2 in x 2.2 in x 1.1 in (56 mm x 56 mm x 28 mm); the series table gives 56 x 56 mm with an enclosure depth, less lid, of 28 mm. The drawing shows a narrowest inside dimension of 46.67 mm [1.838 in] and an inner box height of 34.30 mm [1.350 in].

The countersunk lid is secured with four M3 x 0.5 - 0.71 in (18 mm) long Phillips machine screws threaded into integral brass bushings, which the series notes suits applications with repeated assembly and disassembly. The enclosure is designed to meet IP54, is RoHS and REACH compliant, and ships shrink wrapped at 0.13 lbs (0.06 kg). Circuit board holders are listed in the 1594Z Series. For non-shielded work, the standard 1594 series is the alternative.
