Hammond 1591RLBK 85x56x39 mm Compact EMI/RFI Shielded ABS Enclosure

The 1591RLBK is the shortest enclosure in the 1591R range at 85 x 56 x 39 mm, molded in black flame retardant ABS and sprayed inside with an EMI/RFI copper conductive coating. It is sized for small circuit boards that need shielding where space is tight.

Each enclosure part is molded from flame retardant ABS plastic, a material carrying a UL flammability rating of 94V-0, in a smooth black finish with black screws. The interior of each part is specially masked and sprayed with an RFI/EMI copper conductive coating, and the coating manufacturer specifies an attenuation of more than 75 dB from 1 MHz to 1 GHz. The enclosure is designed to meet IP54 and is listed as RoHS and REACH compliant.

The nominal size is 85 x 56 x 39 mm, and the drawing gives overall dimensions of 85.00 x 56.00 x 39.10 mm. Inside, it measures 78.71 mm long, 51.71 mm wide and 34.90 mm high, a compact volume for a small board mounted in the card guides. Internal side walls include molded-in card guides with a guide height of 29.90 mm and a slot width of 2.09 mm, making the case well suited to vertical mounting of printed circuit boards.

The purchased assembly includes the box, lid, 4 cover screws and pre-installed brass inserts. The lid is secured with M3 x 10 mm Phillips machine screws threaded into integral brass bushings, which suits applications where repetitive assembly and disassembly are required; recommended torque is 35.5-42.5 ozf.in (25-30 cN.m). The matching plastic flange kit for the 1591RLBK is 1591FLBK. Some chemicals can damage or weaken plastic, so check the manufacturer's chemical resistance guidance before using solvents, thread lockers or cutting fluids.
