Hammond 1591RGBK 120.5x94x34 mm Copper-Coated EMI/RFI Abs Enclosure

The 1591RGBK is a wide, shallow 120.5 x 94 x 34 mm black ABS enclosure with an EMI/RFI copper conductive coating applied to the inside of both box and lid. It is aimed at electronics designers who need a shielded case for a broad printed circuit board in a housing only 34 mm deep.

Each enclosure part is molded from flame retardant ABS plastic, a material carrying a UL flammability rating of 94V-0, in a smooth black finish with black screws. The interior of each part is specially masked and sprayed with an RFI/EMI copper conductive coating, and the coating manufacturer specifies an attenuation of more than 75 dB from 1 MHz to 1 GHz. The enclosure is designed to meet IP54 and is listed as RoHS and REACH compliant.

The nominal size is 120.5 x 94 x 34 mm, and the drawing gives overall dimensions of 120.50 x 93.60 x 34.00 mm. Its inside width of 87.36 mm against an inside height of 29.90 mm makes it a good match for wide boards with low component heights. Internal side walls include molded-in card guides with a guide height of 24.90 mm and a slot width of 2.03 mm, making the case well suited to vertical mounting of printed circuit boards.

The purchased assembly includes the box, lid, 4 cover screws and pre-installed brass inserts. The lid is secured with M3 x 10 mm Phillips machine screws threaded into integral brass bushings, which suits applications where repetitive assembly and disassembly are required; recommended torque is 35.5-42.5 ozf.in (25-30 cN.m). The matching plastic flange kit for the 1591RGBK is 1591FGBK. Some chemicals can damage or weaken plastic, so check the manufacturer's chemical resistance guidance before using solvents, thread lockers or cutting fluids.
