Hammond 1591RHBK 166x71x29 mm Slim EMI/RFI Shielded ABS Enclosure

The 1591RHBK is a long, narrow 166 x 71 x 29 mm black ABS enclosure with an EMI/RFI copper conductive coating on its interior surfaces. Its elongated shape suits engineers housing slim, lengthy circuit boards that need shielding in a thin case.

Each enclosure part is molded from flame retardant ABS plastic, a material carrying a UL flammability rating of 94V-0, in a smooth black finish with black screws. The interior of each part is specially masked and sprayed with an RFI/EMI copper conductive coating, and the coating manufacturer specifies an attenuation of more than 75 dB from 1 MHz to 1 GHz. The enclosure is designed to meet IP54 and is listed as RoHS and REACH compliant.

The nominal size is 166 x 71 x 29 mm, and the drawing gives overall dimensions of 165.70 x 70.80 x 29.00 mm. The inside length of 159.70 mm with an inside width of 64.80 mm and inside height of 25.00 mm fits long, narrow boards. Internal side walls include molded-in card guides with a guide height of 20.00 mm and a slot width of 2.00 mm, making the case well suited to vertical mounting of printed circuit boards.

The purchased assembly includes the box, lid, 6 cover screws and pre-installed brass inserts. The lid is secured with M3 x 10 mm Phillips machine screws threaded into integral brass bushings, which suits applications where repetitive assembly and disassembly are required; recommended torque is 35.5-42.5 ozf.in (25-30 cN.m). The matching plastic flange kit for the 1591RHBK is 1591FHBK.
