Hammond 1591RDBK 150x80x50 mm EMI/RFI Shielded Black ABS Enclosure

The 1591RDBK is a black flame retardant ABS enclosure measuring 150 x 80 x 50 mm (5.91 x 3.15 x 1.97 in) with an RFI/EMI copper conductive coating inside. It is aimed at electronics engineers and OEMs who need a small plastic case with integral card guides for vertical PCB mounting plus shielding against electromagnetic and radio-frequency interference. At 150 mm long it is the largest of these four shielded sizes, giving room for longer boards.

The interior of each enclosure part is specially masked and sprayed with the copper conductive coating, for which the coating manufacturer specifies an attenuation of more than 75 dB from 1 MHz to 1 GHz. The body is molded from flame retardant ABS carrying a UL94 V-0 rating and is designed to meet IP54. It has a smooth black finish with black screws.

The 1591D body drawing gives inside dimensions of 143.61 mm long, 73.61 mm wide and 46.10 mm high. Molded card guides on the internal side walls have a guide height of 41.10 mm and a slot width of 2.11 mm.

The lid is secured with M3 x 10 mm Phillips machine screws threaded into integral brass bushings, suited to repeated assembly and disassembly; the recommended torque is 35.5-42.5 ozf.in (25-30 cN.m). The purchased assembly includes the box, lid, 4 cover screws and pre-installed brass inserts. For surface mounting, the matching plastic flange kit is 1591FDBK.
