Hammond 1590Z180GY 180mm Square Gray Diecast Aluminum Enclosure

The 1590Z180GY is a 180 mm x 180 mm diecast aluminum enclosure finished in smooth gray RAL 7001 powder paint, inside and out. It is part of the 1590Z Type 4X / 6P family, built for control, instrumentation and communications electronics that must stay sealed against dust and water in industrial, outdoor or washdown locations.

Construction is two piece tongue and groove. A replaceable one piece silicone rubber gasket (rated -40C to +150C) seals the joint; it ships loose inside the enclosure rather than pre-installed. Four recessed stainless steel machine screws hold the lid, and they are self-captivating, cutting their own threads on first installation, which suits applications that are opened and closed repeatedly.

Listed size is 7.09 in x 7.09 in x 3.98 in (180 mm x 180 mm x 101 mm). The ordering table gives 180 mm length and width, 100 mm total depth and a 30 mm lid depth, and the drawing shows inside dimensions of 169.01 x 168.69 mm with 91.75 mm inside depth. An internal mounting shelf accepts the optional 1590Z180PL steel inner panel. Shipping weight is 4.14 lbs (1.88 kg).

The box is cUL and UL listed (File E65324) and independently tested to IP66, IP67 and IP68 and NEMA Type 4, 4X, 6, 6P, 12 and 13, with an IK08 impact rating per IEC62262. Wall mounting uses blind through holes outside the gasket, and the recommended cover screw torque is 15-17 lbf.in (150-170 cN.m). Hammond advises customers to test for suitability in their own application.
