Hammond 1590Z163 Deep 260x160x160mm Diecast Aluminum Enclosure, IP68

The 1590Z163 is a deep, thick wall, water-tight diecast aluminum enclosure in natural aluminum. At 10.24 in x 6.31 in x 6.3 in (260 mm x 160 mm x 160 mm) it offers the 260 x 160 mm footprint with 160 mm of total depth, giving room for taller components, terminal blocks or cable loops that would not fit a shallow box.

The box and lid are diecast aluminum alloy with a 4.89 mm [0.19 in] average wall. A replaceable one-piece silicone gasket, rated -40C to +150C (-40F to 302F) and supplied loose, seals the tongue and groove joint against dust and water. Four recessed stainless steel machine screws secure the lid into tapped holes; they are self-captivating and create threads on first installation. Recommended cover screw torque is 15-17 lbf.in (150-170 cN.m).

The drawing gives inside dimensions of 246.48 mm [9.70 in] long, 147.01 mm [5.79 in] wide and 152.01 mm [5.98 in] deep, with a 20 mm (0.79 in) lid depth. The internal mounting shelf takes the optional 1590Z163PL steel inner panel, and maximum P.C. board size is listed as 243 mm by 146 mm. The 1590Z163 includes box, lid, silicone gasket, 4 cover screws and 4 ground screws with washers, and accepts an M6 ground screw. It shares its replacement gasket, 1590Z162G, with the 1590Z162.

The enclosure is cUL and UL listed (file E65324) and has been independently tested to meet IP66, IP67 and IP68 as well as NEMA Type 4, 4X, 6, 6P, 12 and 13, with an impact rating of IK08 per IEC62262. Customers should conduct their own testing to determine suitability for any specific application. The drawing is marked NEMA 4, 4X, 6, 6P. It is RoHS and REACH compliant, bagged, and ships at 6.76 lbs (3.07 kg).
