Hammond 1590Z162 260x160x90mm Watertight Diecast Aluminum Enclosure

The 1590Z162 is a thick wall, water-tight diecast aluminum enclosure in the unfinished natural aluminum color, sized 10.24 in x 6.3 in x 3.53 in (260 mm x 160 mm x 90 mm). It suits OEM engineers, electricians and integrators who need a rugged metal housing for instrumentation, controls or communications electronics that must stay sealed against dust and water.

Box and lid are made from diecast aluminum alloy with an average wall thickness of 4.40 mm [0.17 in]. The two-piece tongue and groove joint seals with a replaceable one-piece silicone rubber gasket, rated -40C to +150C (-40F to 302F), which ships loose inside the enclosure. Four recessed stainless steel machine screws hold the lid into tapped holes; the screws are self-captivating and cut their threads on first installation, so the lid stands up well to repeated opening and closing. Recommended cover screw torque is 15-17 lbf.in (150-170 cN.m).

Inside, the box measures 248.83 mm [9.80 in] long, 148.95 mm [5.86 in] wide and 82.30 mm [3.24 in] deep, with a 20 mm (0.79 in) lid depth. An internal mounting shelf accepts the optional 1590Z162PL steel inner panel, and listed maximum P.C. board figures are 147.52 mm and 242.7 mm. The assembly includes box, lid, silicone gasket, 4 cover screws and 4 ground screws with washers; the box accepts an M6 ground screw. Wall mounting uses blind through holes located outside the gasket.

The enclosure is cUL and UL listed (file E65324) and has been independently tested to meet IP66, IP67 and IP68 as well as NEMA Type 4, 4X, 6, 6P, 12 and 13, with an impact rating of IK08 per IEC62262. Customers should conduct their own testing to determine suitability for any specific application. The part is RoHS and REACH compliant and ships in shrink wrap at 4.53 lbs (2.05 kg).
