Hammond 1590Z140BK 250 x 80 mm Black Diecast Aluminum Enclosure

The 1590Z140BK is the textured black version of the 1590Z140 thick-wall diecast aluminum enclosure. It is powder painted inside and out, giving integrators and product designers a finished-looking, watertight housing for electronics installed in exposed or wet locations.

Construction is two piece tongue and groove: a diecast aluminum alloy box and lid sealed by a replaceable one piece silicone rubber gasket with a -40C to +150C (-40F to 302F) temperature rating. The gasket is shipped loose inside the enclosure. Four recessed stainless steel machine screws fasten the lid into tapped holes, are self-captivating and cut their own threads on first installation; tighten them to the recommended 8.9-10.6 lbf.in (100-120 cN.m).

The enclosure measures 250 x 80 mm with a 57 mm total depth and 15 mm lid depth (9.84 x 3.15 x 2.24 in overall). Inside, the drawing gives 240.75 x 70.58 mm with 50.50 mm depth, and boards up to 238.9 x 67.4 mm are supported. An internal mounting shelf takes the optional 1590Z140PL steel inner panel, fixed with SCGM4-50 hardware.

Ratings for the 1590Z140BK include IP68, NEMA 4, 4X, 6, 6P, 12 & 13 and IK08 impact per IEC62262, and it is cUL and UL listed (file #E65324) as well as RoHS and REACH compliant. Wall mounting uses blind through holes located outside the gasket, and an M4 ground screw position is provided. Box, lid, gasket, 4 cover screws and 4 ground screws with washers are included. Customers should conduct their own testing to determine suitability for any specific application.
