Hammond 1590Z140 250 x 80 mm Natural Diecast Aluminum Enclosure

The 1590Z140 is a long, slim thick-wall diecast aluminum enclosure from the 1590Z series, built for OEM engineers and integrators who need a watertight housing for electronics, sensors or control circuitry that must survive outdoor or washdown conditions. This part is the unfinished, natural aluminum version.

The box and lid are both diecast aluminum alloy, joined with two piece tongue and groove construction and sealed by a replaceable one piece silicone rubber gasket rated -40C to +150C (-40F to 302F). The gasket ships loose inside the enclosure rather than pre-installed. Four recessed stainless steel machine screws hold the lid into tapped holes; the screws are self-captivating and form their own threads on first installation, which suits repeated opening and closing. Recommended cover screw torque is 8.9-10.6 lbf.in (100-120 cN.m).

Outside dimensions are 250 mm long x 80 mm wide x 57 mm total depth (9.84 x 3.15 x 2.24 in), with a 15 mm (0.59 in) lid depth. Inside, the drawing gives 240.75 mm length, 70.58 mm width and 50.50 mm depth, and the listed maximum P.C. board size is 238.9 x 67.4 mm. An internal mounting shelf accepts the optional 1590Z140PL steel inner panel.
