Hammond 1590Z063GY Long 150 x 64 mm Gray IP68 Diecast Aluminum Enclosure

The 1590Z063GY is a narrow, elongated thick-wall diecast aluminum enclosure from the 1590Z Series, built for OEM engineers and electronics integrators who need a watertight housing for slim circuit boards, sensors or signal electronics in wet, dusty or washdown locations.

The box and lid are cast from aluminum alloy and join with two piece tongue and groove construction. A replaceable one piece silicone rubber gasket, rated -40C to +150C (-40F to 302F), seals the joint; it ships loose inside the enclosure rather than pre-installed. Four recessed stainless steel machine screws secure the lid into tapped holes, and the design is suited to repetitive opening and closing. On this size the lid holes accept M4 - 0.7 machine screws; unlike larger 1590Z sizes, the lid screws are not the self-captivating, thread-forming type.

Nominal size is 150 x 64 x 36 mm (5.91 x 2.53 x 1.43 in), with a lid depth of 10 mm. The drawing gives inside dimensions of 141.61 mm long, 55.61 mm wide and 30.40 mm deep, with a 3.00 mm average wall thickness. There is no internal mounting shelf; ground screw bosses accept #6 self-tapping ground screws.

Finish is a powder paint applied inside and out in smooth gray RAL 7001. The purchased assembly includes the box, lid, silicone gasket, 4 cover screws and 4 ground screws with washers; recommended cover screw torque is 6.6-8.8 lbf.in (75-100 cN.m).

It is cUL and UL listed (file E65324), carries an IP68 rating, has been independently tested to IP66, IP67 and IP68 and NEMA Type 4, 4X, 6, 6P, 12 and 13, and carries an IK08 impact rating per IEC62262. Wall mounting uses blind through holes located outside the gasket. RoHS and REACH compliant.
