Hammond 1590WSTPCBK Black Octagon Watertight Diecast Aluminum Enclosure

The 1590WSTPCBK is the black, watertight version of Hammond's 1590STPC octagon diecast enclosure. Its eight-sided outline gives builders of pedals, instrument housings and custom electronics a shape that stands apart from ordinary rectangular project boxes, while the included silicone gasket and IP65 rating make it the choice when the electronics need liquid resistance.

Box and lid are cast from aluminum alloy and finished in black texture. The metal is tough yet easy to machine, so drilling for jacks, switches and pots is straightforward, and the side walls have a draft angle of 2° or less to simplify PC board mounting. The lid closes with four #6-32 x 1/2" machine screws into factory-tapped holes; with the gasket fitted the recommended torque is 25-30 cN.m [36-43 ozf.in].

The nominal size is 5.25 in x 5.25 in x 1.5 in (133 mm x 133 mm x 38 mm). In the series ordering table it measures 133 mm long, 57 mm across the small end and 133 mm across the large end, with a 39 mm depth. Inside, the drawing shows 126.58 mm [4.983 in] of length and width and 34.95 mm [1.376 in] of height, and the maximum P.C. board size is 125.58 mm x 125.58 mm.

Each 1590WSTPCBK ships as a box, lid and four cover screws, with the silicone gasket supplied for liquid resistance. It is RoHS and REACH compliant, and Hammond can factory-modify the enclosure with milling, drilling or printing; STEP and IGES solid models are available for layout work.
