Hammond 1590WSTPC Watertight Octagon Diecast Enclosure with Gasket, IP65

The 1590WSTPC is the watertight version of the 1590STPC octagon diecast enclosure from the 1590TRP-STP series, supplied unpainted in natural aluminum with a silicone gasket included. It is rated IP65, compared with IP54 for the standard 1590STPC octagon.

The drawing lists it as the 1590STPC Liquid Resistant Enclosure (Silicone Gasket), natural finish, with box and lid made from diecast aluminum alloy; the part page lists the material as Aluminum Steel and the type as a water-tight die-cast box. Diecast aluminum is tough yet easy to machine, and the octagon shape gives a unique look.

The watertight ordering table lists 5.24 in (133 mm) length, 2.24 in (57 mm) width at the small end, 5.24 in (133 mm) width at the large end and 1.54 in (39 mm) depth. The part page gives 5.25 x 5.25 x 1.5 in (133 x 133 x 38 mm), and the drawing shows 126.58 x 126.58 mm inside with 34.95 mm [1.376 in] inside height. Maximum PC board size is 125.58 x 125.58 mm, and the side wall draft angle of 2° or less eases board mounting.

Four #6-32 x 1/2" screws secure the lid into factory-tapped holes; with the gasket fitted the recommended torque is 25-30 cN.m [36-43 ozf.in]. Liquid resistant stainless steel cover screws with O-ring are available as 1590WMS100 (or 1590WMS100BK in black). The 1590WSTPC is RoHS and REACH compliant, has a 0.6 lbs (0.27 kg) shipping weight, and can be factory modified; STEP or IGES models are available.
