Hammond 1590WDBK 188x119x56mm Black Watertight Diecast Aluminum Box

The 1590WDBK is a watertight diecast aluminum enclosure measuring 7.39 in x 4.7 in x 2.2 in (188 mm x 119 mm x 56 mm), giving electronics builders and OEM engineers a long, IP65-rated instrument housing with no mounting flanges. It is the water-tight version of the 1590DBK, finished in textured black.

Box and lid are made from diecast aluminum alloy, a rugged material that is tough yet easy to machine. This version has no mounting flanges: the box and lid meet in a lap joint, leaving the exterior plain and free for machining. The textured black finish is a tough polyester powder paint that gives a lasting finish even after machining, and black screws are included to match. Low side wall draft angles (2° or less) make PC board mounting straightforward.

Drawing dimensions are 187.75 mm [7.392 in] long, 119.50 mm [4.705 in] wide and 56.00 mm [2.205 in] high, with inside dimensions of 178.86 mm [7.042 in] x 111.61 mm [4.394 in] x 51.00 mm [2.008 in] (length x width x height). The part data lists a maximum PC board size of 109.61 mm x 177.86 mm. Shipping weight is 1.12 lbs (0.51 kg).

The assembly includes box, lid and 6 cover screws threaded into factory-tapped holes (6-32 UNC-2B). Watertight 1590 enclosures are designed to meet IP65 and ship with a silicone gasket supplied loose inside the enclosure, not pre-installed. Recommended lid screw torque is 25-30 cN.m (36-43 ozf.in) with the gasket fitted, and 50-55 cN.m (71-78 ozf.in) without. The replacement gasket kit for this size is 1590EGASKET, and the 1590WDBK is RoHS and REACH compliant.
