Hammond 1590WB 112x61x31mm IP65 Watertight Diecast Aluminum Box

The 1590WB is the watertight edition of the 1590B size in the 1590 diecast family. It is a plain rectangular box of 112 x 61 x 31 mm nominal with no mounting flanges, natural aluminum finish and an IP65 rating, intended for circuit builders, instrument makers and OEM teams who need a rugged, liquid-resistant metal case.

The box and lid are made from diecast aluminum alloy, which is tough yet easy to machine, and carry a natural aluminum finish that is vibra finished for a smooth surface with no sharp edges. A lap joint where lid and box meet guards against dust and splashing water, and a side wall draft angle of 2° or less eases PC board mounting. The maximum P.C. board dimensions listed for this part are 53.45 mm and 105.05 mm.

The listed size of 1590WB is 4.43 in x 2.38 in x 1.22 in (113 mm x 60 mm x 31 mm), and the series ordering table gives a nominal 4.41 in (112 mm) x 2.40 in (61 mm) x 1.22 in (31 mm). It has no mounting flanges, so the outside is a clean rectangle of 112.40 mm [4.425 in] by 60.50 mm [2.382 in] by 31.00 mm [1.220 in] on the drawing. Inside, the drawing gives 107.05 mm [4.215 in] of length, 55.45 mm [2.183 in] of width and 27.00 mm [1.063 in] of height; the lid height is 0.16 in (4 mm).

As a watertight version it is designed to meet IP65 and includes a silicone gasket, supplied loose inside the enclosure rather than pre-installed. The purchased assembly includes box, lid and 4 cover screws that thread into factory-tapped 6-32 UNC holes. Recommended torque is 50-55 cN.m [71-78 ozf.in], or 25-30 cN.m [36-43 ozf.in] with the gasket fitted. Replacement gasket kit 1590BGASKET holds two pre-formed, adhesive-backed silicone gaskets.

It is RoHS and REACH compliant, ships in shrink wrap at 0.31 lbs (0.14 kg), and solid models are available in STEP or IGES.
