Hammond 1590WB2 112x61x38mm IP65 Watertight Diecast Aluminum Box

The 1590WB2 takes the familiar 1590B footprint and adds height: at 112 x 61 x 38 mm nominal it gives 33.50 mm of inside height for taller components, while the silicone gasket brings the enclosure to IP65. The natural aluminum box has no mounting flanges and is suited to electronics designers and OEM builders who need a deeper liquid-resistant case.

The box and lid are made from diecast aluminum alloy, which is tough yet easy to machine, and carry a natural aluminum finish that is vibra finished for a smooth surface with no sharp edges. A lap joint where lid and box meet guards against dust and splashing water, and a side wall draft angle of 2° or less eases PC board mounting. The maximum P.C. board dimensions listed for this part are 53.17 mm and 104.77 mm.

The listed size of 1590WB2 is 4.43 in x 2.38 in x 1.48 in (113 mm x 60 mm x 38 mm), and the series ordering table gives a nominal 4.41 in (112 mm) x 2.40 in (61 mm) x 1.50 in (38 mm). It has no mounting flanges, so the outside is a clean rectangle of 112.40 mm [4.425 in] by 60.50 mm [2.382 in] by 37.50 mm [1.476 in] on the drawing. Inside, the drawing gives 106.77 mm [4.203 in] of length, 55.17 mm [2.172 in] of width and 33.50 mm [1.319 in] of height; the lid height is 0.16 in (4 mm).

As a watertight version it is designed to meet IP65 and includes a silicone gasket, supplied loose inside the enclosure rather than pre-installed. The purchased assembly includes box, lid and 4 cover screws that thread into factory-tapped 6-32 UNC holes. Recommended torque is 50-55 cN.m [71-78 ozf.in], or 25-30 cN.m [36-43 ozf.in] with the gasket fitted. Replacement gasket kit 1590BGASKET holds two pre-formed, adhesive-backed silicone gaskets.

It is RoHS and REACH compliant, ships in shrink wrap at 0.33 lbs (0.15 kg), and solid models are available in STEP or IGES.
