Hammond 1590WAFL 93x39x31mm IP65 Diecast Box with Flanged Lid, Natural

The 1590WAFL is the watertight, flanged-lid version of the slim 1590A diecast aluminum enclosure: a narrow 93 x 39 x 31 mm box in natural aluminum whose lid extends into a wall-mounting flange. It suits electronics designers, OEM engineers and installers who need a compact IP65 housing for a long, narrow circuit board that can be screwed straight to a wall or panel.

The box and lid are made from diecast aluminum alloy, which is tough yet easy to machine, and carry a natural aluminum finish that is vibra finished for a smooth surface with no sharp edges. A lap joint where lid and box meet guards against dust and splashing water, and a side wall draft angle of 2° or less eases PC board mounting. The maximum P.C. board dimensions listed for this part are 32.7 mm and 86.8 mm.

The listed size of 1590WAFL is 3.65 in x 1.52 in x 1.22 in (93 mm x 39 mm x 31 mm), and the series ordering table gives a nominal 3.66 in (93 mm) x 1.54 in (39 mm) x 1.22 in (31 mm). The wall-mounting flange is integrated into the lid, bringing the overall length on the drawing to 121.50 mm [4.783 in], with a width of 38.50 mm [1.516 in] and a height of 31.00 mm [1.220 in]. Inside, the drawing gives 87.80 mm [3.457 in] of length, 33.70 mm [1.327 in] of width and 27.30 mm [1.075 in] of height; the lid height is 0.16 in (4 mm).

As a watertight version it is designed to meet IP65 and includes a silicone gasket, supplied loose inside the enclosure rather than pre-installed. The purchased assembly includes box, lid and 4 cover screws that thread into factory-tapped 6-32 UNC holes. Recommended torque is 50-55 cN.m [71-78 ozf.in], or 25-30 cN.m [36-43 ozf.in] with the gasket fitted. Replacement gasket kit 1590AGASKET holds two pre-formed, adhesive-backed silicone gaskets.

It is RoHS and REACH compliant, ships in shrink wrap at 0.19 lbs (0.09 kg), and solid models are available in STEP or IGES.
