The 1590S is a compact natural aluminum diecast aluminum box and lid from the 1590 Series, measuring 4.35 x 3.24 x 1.73 in (110 x 82 x 44 mm). It is a practical housing for small circuit boards, sensors and interface electronics, aimed at hobbyist builders, OEM engineers and integrators alike.
Diecast aluminum alloy is tough yet easy to machine. The lid and box meet at a lap joint that protects against dust and splashing water, and this standard version is designed to meet IP54. The natural finish is unpainted and vibra finished for a smooth surface with no sharp edges, ready for drilling or painting.
The drawing gives overall dimensions of 110.50 x 82.40 x 44.00 mm (4.350 x 3.244 x 1.732 in) and inside dimensions of 103.65 mm (4.081 in) long, 75.55 mm (2.974 in) wide and 39.25 mm (1.545 in) high. Maximum P.C. board values are 74.68 mm (length) and 102.78 mm (width). Side walls have a draft angle of 2° or less, and the lid height is 0.16 in (4 mm).
Four 6-32 UNC cover screws are included and thread into factory-tapped holes; recommended torque is 50-55 cN.m [71-78 ozf.in], or 25-30 cN.m [36-43 ozf.in] with a gasket. There are no mounting flanges. For IP65 choose the water-tight 1590WS or add the 1590SGASKET kit. The 1590S is RoHS and REACH compliant and ships shrink wrapped at 0.5 lbs (0.23 kg).
