The 1590J is a mid-size, unflanged diecast aluminum enclosure measuring 5.71 in x 3.74 in x 1.93 in (145 mm x 95 mm x 49 mm). It is a general purpose electronic instrument housing for engineers, integrators and builders who need room for a larger P.C. board, terminals or connectors inside a rugged metal case.
According to the drawing, outside dimensions are 145.00 x 95.00 x 49.10 mm [5.709 x 3.740 x 1.933 in] and the interior is 139.14 mm [5.478 in] long, 89.04 mm [3.505 in] wide and 44.50 mm [1.752 in] high. The maximum P.C. board is 138.14 mm x 88.04 mm, and a side wall draft angle of 2° or less simplifies board mounting.
Box and lid are diecast aluminum alloy, which is tough yet easy to machine for glands, switches and displays. The natural version is unpainted and vibra finished for a smooth surface with no sharp edges. Lap joint construction where lid and box meet protects against dust and splashing water, and the standard enclosure is designed to meet IP54.
Each 1590J ships shrink wrapped with box, lid and four 6-32 UNC cover screws; recommended torque is 50-55 cN.m [71-78 ozf.in]. The water-tight version is 1590WJ, and the 1590JGASKET kit upgrades this box to IP65. RoHS and REACH compliant, 0.7 lbs (0.32 kg).
