The 1590BGASKET is a two-pack of pre-formed silicone gaskets for Hammond 1590B-size diecast aluminum enclosures. It is the optional replacement gasket kit listed in the 1590 Series ordering table for the 112 x 61 mm enclosures in 31 mm and 38 mm heights, including the 1590B, 1590B2 and 1590BS families with their flanged-lid, flanged-bottom, black and colored versions.
Gaskets are included with the water-tight 1590 enclosures, but the kit lets you upgrade a standard IP54 enclosure to IP65. Because the gasket is applied afterwards, you can machine and/or paint the enclosure first and add the gasket later, which makes it a practical choice for panel builders and OEM engineers who drill connector and switch holes before final assembly.
Each gasket has adhesive backing for easy installation and is applied to the lid. The silicone carries a temperature rating of -40°C to 150°C (-40°F to 302°F).
The enclosure is designed to meet IP65 with a properly installed gasket and the lid screws torqued to 25-30 cN.m (36-43 ozf.in). When converting a standard enclosure, order the watertight screws as well; the enclosure drawings list 1590WMS100 stainless steel and 1590WMS100BK black stainless steel 6-32 x 1/2 in screws with O-ring in packs of 100.
The kit ships in a bag, weighs 0.01 lbs, and is RoHS and REACH compliant.
