Hammond 1590BF 4.43x2.38x1.22 in Diecast Box, Welded Bottom Flange

The 1590BF is a natural (unpainted) diecast aluminum enclosure from the 1590 Series with a spot-welded flanged bottom plate, measuring a nominal 4.43 in x 2.38 in x 1.22 in (113 mm x 60 mm x 31 mm). The welded bottom flange lets you screw the box straight down to a wall, panel, machine frame or chassis, which makes it a practical housing for control electronics, sensors and interface circuits in fixed installations. Note that 1590BF belongs to the 1590B size (4.41 in x 2.40 in x 1.22 in in the ordering table), which should not be confused with the 1590BB size.

Box and lid are diecast aluminum alloy, which is tough yet easy to machine for connectors, switches and displays. The unpainted aluminum is vibra finished for a smooth surface with no sharp edges, ready to be machined, painted or printed. Lap joint construction where the lid meets the box helps keep out dust and splashing water, and this standard version is designed to meet IP54. Side walls have a low draft angle of 2° or less, which makes mounting a PC board easier. The bottom flange is welded to the box.

Per the drawing the box measures 112.40 mm [4.425 in] long by 60.50 mm [2.382 in] wide, with an overall height of 32.50 mm [1.280 in]. Inside you get 107.05 mm [4.215 in] of length, 55.45 mm [2.183 in] of width and 27.00 mm [1.063 in] of height, and the maximum P.C. board size is listed as 53.45 mm by 105.05 mm. The lid height is 0.16 in (4 mm). With the flange, overall length is 140.21 mm [5.520 in] and the flange mounting holes are spaced 128.93 mm [5.076 in] apart along the length.

The assembly ships with the box, lid and 4 cover screws that thread into factory-tapped 6-32 UNC holes; the recommended torque is 50-55 cN.m [71-78 ozf.in]. To upgrade to IP65, add the 1590BGASKET silicone gasket kit, torque the lid screws to 25-30 cN.m [36-43 ozf.in], and consider the stainless steel O-ring cover screws (1590WMS100). Shipping weight is 0.39 lbs (0.18 kg).
