Hammond 1590AF 93x39x31mm Diecast Aluminum Box, Flanged Bottom

The 1590AF is a compact diecast aluminum electronic instrument enclosure fitted with a flanged bottom plate, giving OEM engineers, electricians and integrators a slim housing that can be screwed straight down to a panel, wall or chassis. It is the flanged-bottom version of the 93 x 39 x 31 mm 1590A size in the 1590 Series, supplied in a natural (unpainted) aluminum finish.

Box and lid are made from diecast aluminum alloy, which is tough yet easy to machine. The unpainted surface is vibra finished for a smooth feel with no sharp edges, and the bottom flange is welded to the box. Lap joint construction where the lid meets the box protects against dust and splashing water, and the standard version is designed to meet IP54.

The part page lists a size of 3.65 in x 1.52 in x 1.22 in (93 mm x 39 mm x 31 mm). On the drawing the flanged assembly measures 121.16 mm [4.770 in] long overall, with a 92.45 mm [3.640 in] box, 38.50 mm [1.516 in] width and 32.50 mm [1.280 in] overall height. Inside you get 87.80 x 33.70 x 27.40 mm [3.457 x 1.327 x 1.079 in], and the side walls have a draft angle of 2° or less for easy PC board mounting.

The purchased assembly includes box, lid and 4 cover screws that thread into factory-tapped 6-32 UNC holes; recommended torque is 50-55 cN.m [71-78 ozf.in]. For a liquid resistant build choose 1590WAF, or add the 1590AGASKET kit, which is designed to reach IP65 with lid screws torqued to 25-30 cN.m. The 1590AF can also be factory modified (milling, drilling, printing), and solid models are available in STEP or IGES.
