Hammond 1583H8B1SBK 1U Surge-Protected PDU, 8 Rear 5-15R Outlets

The 1583H8B1SBK is a 1U horizontal 19" rack mount basic PDU with eight rear-facing NEMA 5-15R outlets, built for IT, AV and industrial racks where power is distributed from the back of the enclosure. It is rated 15 A at 120 VAC (drawing rating: 125 VAC, 60 Hz, 15 Amps) and includes an illuminated on/off rocker switch plus a resettable 15 Amp, 125 VAC circuit breaker to guard against accidental overload.

This version is surge protected. The internal surge module provides 1080 Joules of maximum energy, 25000 Amp-rated MOVs for 75,000 Amps of single pulse transient current, a Voltage Protection Rating (Vpr) of 500 V in all three modes (L-N, L-G, N-G) and a Nominal Discharge Current (In) of 5 kA. A green indicator light confirms the surge module is active; at the end of the module's useful life the internal protection disconnects it and extinguishes the light while maintaining power to the load, now unprotected.

Construction is painted steel, front and back, in black (RAL9005 powder coat per series finish data), which complies with Greenguard guidelines for indoor air quality. Overall dimensions are 19.000 in (482.60 mm) wide, 1.718 in (43.64 mm) high and 2.661 in (67.58 mm) deep, with a shipping weight of 3.71 lbs (1.68 kg).

Power input is by a 15 ft heavy-duty 14/3 SJT cord with an integral moulded NEMA 5-15P straight-blade plug, suitable for extreme temperature ranges. Outlets on the 1583H8B1SBK are not rotated and the cord is unshielded. The unit is cRUus recognized (UL file E166039) to UL 1449 and C22.2 No. 269.3-17 for Type 3 and Type 4 Surge Protective Devices and to UL 1363 for relocatable power taps, is TAA-compliant for federal GSA schedule purchases in the USA, RoHS and REACH compliant, and manufactured in North America.
