The 1583H8B1BK is a 1U horizontal 19-inch rack mount basic PDU (outlet strip) with eight rear-facing NEMA 5-15R receptacles, intended for distributing single-phase 125 V power to equipment mounted in racks and cabinets. With all outlets on the rear face and a lighted on/off rocker switch plus a resettable circuit breaker on the front, it suits IT, AV, broadcast and OEM installations where cabling is kept behind the rack and switching is done from the aisle.
Construction is painted steel, black on both the front and back panels, finished in RAL9005 black powder coat that complies with the Greenguard guidelines for indoor air quality. The unit measures 1.72 in (44 mm) high by 19.00 in (483 mm) wide by 2.66 in (68 mm) deep and ships at 4.38 lbs (1.99 kg), mounting in a single rack unit of a standard 19-inch rack rail using 17.500 in (444.50 mm) hole centres.
Power comes in on an integral 15 ft heavy-duty 14/3 SJT cord with a moulded straight-blade NEMA 5-15P plug, rated for extreme temperature ranges. A 15 Amp, 125 VAC circuit breaker guards against accidental overload, and the drawing rates the assembly at 125 VAC, 60 Hz, 15 Amps. This version of the 1583 series is supplied without surge protection, without a shielded cord, without an ammeter and with standard (non-rotated) outlet orientation.
