Hammond 1553WCGY Grey IP65 Hand-Held Enclosure, 117x79x32 mm

The 1553WCGY is a grey water-tight hand-held enclosure from the 1553W series, sized 4.62 in x 3.11 in x 1.26 in (117 mm x 79 mm x 32 mm). It suits designers of portable instruments, remotes and handheld controllers who need an ergonomic case designed to meet IP65, with a grey TPE overmold on the sides that serves as a soft grip.

The body is molded from UV stabilized, flame retardant ABS rated UL94 V-0. The top cover is recessed to accept a membrane display or keypad, and the front panel is integrated with the top half of the enclosure. A pre-formed silicone gasket comes pre-installed, and the assembly screws sit outside the gasket channel.

At 32 mm total depth, this is the deeper of the two 117 x 79 mm sizes. The drawing gives an inside length of 110.85 mm [4.36 in] for the top and 109.42 mm [4.31 in] for the bottom, and the part data lists a maximum P.C. board of 67.49 mm x 106.23 mm. PC board standoffs are molded into both halves; the posts accept #2 x 3/16" self-tapping screws, which are not included (see 1553WTS100, 100-pack).

The two halves close with four black stainless steel cover screws (M3-0.5 x 20 mm) threaded into pre-installed M3 brass inserts, so the 1553WCGY can be opened and closed repeatedly for service. Recommended cover screw torque is 2.5 lbf-in (30 cN-m). Replacement screws are SC1553WC100BK and replacement gaskets are 1553WCGASKET (2-pack). The part is REACH and RoHS compliant and ships shrink wrapped at 0.23 lbs (0.10 kg).
