Hammond 1553WCBK Black IP65 Water-Tight Handheld Enclosure, 32 mm

The 1553WCBK is the deeper C-size model of the 1553W water-tight hand-held enclosure series, in black. It shares the 117 x 79 mm footprint of the B size but adds depth, measuring 4.61 x 3.11 x 1.26 in (117 x 79 x 32 mm), which gives more internal height for taller components. It is designed to meet IP65 and comes with a pre-formed, pre-installed silicone gasket.

The drawing gives overall dimensions of 117.25 x 78.98 x 32.00 mm, with an inside length of 110.85 mm in the top and 109.42 mm in the bottom. The part page lists maximum P.C. board figures of 67.49 mm and 106.23 mm. PC board standoffs are molded into both halves and accept #2 x 3/16" self-tapping screws, sold separately as 1553WTS100.

The enclosure is molded from UV stabilized, flame retardant ABS rated UL94 V-0, with a grey TPE overmold for a soft grip. The top cover is recessed for a membrane display or keypad, and the front panel is integrated with the top half.

Black stainless steel machine screws thread into pre-installed M3 brass inserts outside the gasket channel. For the C size, replacement screws are SC1553WC100BK (M3-0.5 x 20 mm, 100-pack) and the replacement gasket 2-pack is 1553WCGASKET. The 1553WCBK includes the top, bottom, pre-installed silicone gasket and 4 cover screws; recommended torque is 2.5 lbf-in (30 cN-m). It is RoHS and REACH compliant and ships shrink wrapped at 0.23 lbs (0.10 kg).
