Hammond 1550Z124 223 x 147 x 55 mm Watertight Diecast Aluminum Box

The 1550Z124 is a thick-wall watertight diecast aluminum enclosure measuring 8.76 in x 5.77 in x 2.17 in (223 mm x 147 mm x 55 mm). Its long, low profile makes it a practical housing for wide circuit boards in electronic instruments, and it is aimed at OEM engineers, integrators and electricians who need a sealed metal box. This version is unpainted aluminum, vibra finished for a smooth surface with no sharp edges.

Inside, the drawing gives 214.49 mm [8.44 in] length, 138.49 mm [5.45 in] width and 49.50 mm [1.95 in] depth, and the part data lists a maximum P.C. board length of 137.33 mm and width of 213.33 mm. There are no internal ribs, so connectors fit without interference or extra milling. Lid height is 0.20 in (5 mm).

Six stainless steel Philips head M4 - 0.7 machine screws hold the lid, positioned outside the pre-formed silicone gasket so o-rings are not needed; recommended torque is 5-7.5 lbf.in (50-75 cN.m). For installation, blind thru-box mounting holes let you wall mount the box, with access outside the gasket ring to uphold ingress protection. A #6 self tapping ground screw can be fitted inside.

The 1550Z124 is rated IP68 and NEMA 4, 4X, 12 & 13, carries an IK08 impact rating per IEC62262, is cUL and UL listed under file #E71073, and is RoHS and REACH compliant. It ships shrink wrapped with the box, lid, silicone gasket and 6 cover screws at 1.8 lbs (0.82 kg).
