Hammond 1550Z120 171 x 121 x 55 mm Watertight Diecast Aluminum Box

The 1550Z120 is a thick-wall, watertight diecast aluminum enclosure for electronic instruments, sized at 6.74 in x 4.77 in x 2.18 in (171 mm x 121 mm x 55 mm). It suits OEM engineers and integrators who need a rugged metal housing for circuit boards and connectors in wet or dusty locations. This version is unpainted natural aluminum, vibra finished for a smooth surface with no sharp edges.

Box and lid are made from diecast aluminum alloy that is tough yet easy to machine, and the walls have no internal ribs, so connectors can be installed without interference or additional milling. Inside, the box measures 163.14 mm [6.42 in] long with an inside depth of 49.90 mm [1.96 in], and the part data lists a maximum P.C. board length of 111.16 mm and width of 161.12 mm. The lid height is 0.39 in (10 mm) and the total depth is 2.17 in (55 mm).

The lid is secured with six stainless steel Philips head M4 - 0.7 machine screws located outside the pre-formed, one-piece silicone gasket, which eliminates the need for o-rings. Recommended cover screw torque is 5-7.5 lbf.in (50-75 cN.m). The inside of the box accepts a #6 self tapping ground screw. Note that the drawing states there are no mounting holes on this box, so plan your own mounting method.

The 1550Z120 is rated IP68 and NEMA 4, 4X, 12 & 13, carries an IK08 impact rating per IEC62262, and is cUL and UL listed under file #E71073. It is RoHS and REACH compliant and ships shrink wrapped with the box, lid, silicone gasket and 6 cover screws, at a shipping weight of 1.41 lbs (0.64 kg).
