The 1550Z116F is a thick-wall, watertight diecast aluminum enclosure with a flanged base, built for electronic instruments, controls and connectors that need protection against dust and water. It is cUL and UL listed under file #E71073 and independently tested to IP66, IP67 and IP68 and NEMA Type 4, 4X, 12 and 13. A black textured version is offered as 1550Z116FBK.
The 1550Z116 measures 187 x 100 x 63 mm overall on a 160 x 100 mm body with a 20 mm lid height, and takes a board up to 89.08 mm by 148.97 mm with 54.20 mm [2.13 in] inside depth. Nominal body size is 6.30 in (160 mm) long by 3.94 in (100 mm) wide with a total depth of 2.36 in (60 mm) and a lid height of 0.79 in (20 mm); shipping weight is 1.68 lbs (0.76 kg).
Box and lid are made from diecast aluminum alloy that is tough yet easy to machine, and there are no internal ribs, so connectors can be installed without interference or additional milling. Two-piece tongue and groove construction and a pre-formed, one-piece silicone rubber gasket rated -40°C to +150°C (-40°F to 302°F) keep out dust and water. This unpainted version is vibra finished for a smooth natural-aluminum surface with no sharp edges.
A strong spot-welded bottom flange makes surface mounting straightforward. The lid is secured with four stainless steel Phillips head M4 - 0.7 x 30mm machine screws that sit outside the gasket area, eliminating the need for o-rings; the recommended cover screw torque is 5-7.5 lbf.in (50-75 cN.m). On this size the lid screws are self-captivating: the lid holes are slightly undersized and threaded with the first installation. The box accepts an M4-0.7 machine ground screw. The enclosure carries an IK08 impact rating per IEC62262 and is RoHS and REACH compliant.
