Hammond 1550Z116FBK Black 160 x 100 mm Watertight Flanged Diecast Box

The 1550Z116FBK is a black, thick-wall diecast aluminum enclosure with a flanged base, built for OEM engineers, electricians and integrators who need a sealed instrument housing that can bolt straight to a panel, wall or machine frame. It belongs to the 1550ZF Series of watertight diecast aluminum enclosures with flanges.

The box and lid are diecast aluminum alloy that is tough yet easy to machine, joined by two piece tongue and groove construction that protects against dust and water. It is the textured black version: tough polyester powder is applied outside and inside the enclosure for a lasting finish, even after machining, with cleared areas around the internal grounding points. A strong spot-welded bottom flange allows for easy mounting, and there are no internal ribs, so connectors can be fitted without interference or additional milling.

Nominal box size is 160 x 100 mm with a total depth of 60 mm and a 20 mm lid height; overall size including the flange is 7.35 x 3.95 x 2.47 in (187 x 100 x 63 mm). Inside, the drawing gives 150.92 mm length, 90.72 mm width and 54.20 mm depth, and Hammond lists maximum P.C. board dimensions of 89.08 mm and 148.97 mm.

The lid is secured with four stainless steel Philips head M4 - 0.7 machine screws that sit outside the pre-formed one-piece silicone gasket, so no o-rings are needed. The 1550Z116 size is one of six listed with self-captivating lid screws: the lid holes are slightly undersized and threaded on first installation. Recommended cover screw torque is 5-7.5 lbf.in (50-75 cN.m), and the gasket is rated -40°C to +150°C.

Hammond lists the 1550ZF family under cUL and UL file #E71073, and it has been independently tested to meet IP66, IP67 and IP68 as well as NEMA Type 4, 4X, 12 and 13 ratings; this size also carries an IK08 impact rating per IEC62262. Hammond advises customers to conduct their own testing to determine suitability for any specific application.
