The 1550Z115F is a thick-wall, watertight diecast aluminum enclosure with a flanged base, built for electronic instruments, controls and connectors that need protection against dust and water. It is cUL and UL listed under file #E71073 and independently tested to IP66, IP67 and IP68 and NEMA Type 4, 4X, 12 and 13. A black textured version is offered as 1550Z115FBK.
The 1550Z115 is a roomy 175 x 108 x 78 mm overall with a 75 mm total depth and 69.90 mm [2.75 in] inside depth, accepting a board up to 98.17 mm by 138.17 mm. Nominal body size is 5.83 in (148 mm) long by 4.25 in (108 mm) wide with a total depth of 2.95 in (75 mm) and a lid height of 0.39 in (10 mm); shipping weight is 1.54 lbs (0.70 kg).
Box and lid are made from diecast aluminum alloy that is tough yet easy to machine, and there are no internal ribs, so connectors can be installed without interference or additional milling. Two-piece tongue and groove construction and a pre-formed, one-piece silicone rubber gasket rated -40°C to +150°C (-40°F to 302°F) keep out dust and water. This unpainted version is vibra finished for a smooth natural-aluminum surface with no sharp edges.
A strong spot-welded bottom flange makes surface mounting straightforward. The lid is secured with four stainless steel Phillips head M4 - 0.7 x 20mm machine screws that sit outside the gasket area, eliminating the need for o-rings; the recommended cover screw torque is 5-7.5 lbf.in (50-75 cN.m). The box accepts a #6 self-tapping ground screw. The enclosure carries an IK08 impact rating per IEC62262 and is RoHS and REACH compliant.
