Hammond 1550Z101BK 50 x 45 mm Black Thick-Wall Watertight Diecast Box

The 1550Z101BK is the black textured version of the smallest 1550Z Series enclosure, a thick-wall watertight diecast aluminum box measuring 50 mm x 45 mm x 30 mm. It targets compact electronics that need a finished black housing and serious ingress protection, and it is cUL and UL listed under file #E71073.

The black version is coated with tough polyester powder applied outside and inside the enclosure, giving a lasting finish even after machining. Box and lid are diecast aluminum alloy. A pre-formed one-piece silicone rubber gasket installs into the lid groove and is rated -40°C to +150°C (-40°F to 302°F). Two stainless steel Philips head cover screws (M4 - 0.7 x 20mm) are placed outside the gasket, removing the need for o-rings; torque them to 5-7.5 lbf.in (50-75 cN.m).

Hammond lists the size as 1.98 in x 1.78 in x 1.2 in (50 mm x 45 mm x 30 mm), with a 0.24 in (6 mm) lid. Inside, the drawing shows 44.28 mm [1.74 in] length, 39.28 mm [1.55 in] width and 25.40 mm [1.00 in] depth, and the maximum PC board is 38.61 mm x 43.31 mm. The rib-free interior accepts connectors without extra milling, blind thru-box holes outside the gasket ring allow wall mounting, and a #6 self-tapping ground screw can be fitted.

Ratings are IP68 and NEMA 4, 4X, 12 & 13, backed by independent series testing to IP66, IP67 and IP68; customers should confirm suitability by their own testing. Unlike the larger 1550Z sizes, the 1550Z101BK does not carry the IK08 impact rating. It is RoHS and REACH compliant, shrink wrapped, and ships at 0.15 lbs (0.07 kg).
