Hammond 1550Z101 50 x 45 mm Thick-Wall Watertight Diecast Enclosure

The 1550Z101 is the smallest enclosure in the 1550Z Series of thick-wall, watertight diecast aluminum boxes. At 50 mm x 45 mm x 30 mm in a natural aluminum finish, it is built for tiny sensor boards, signal conditioners and connector interfaces that must hold up in wet or dusty locations, and it is cUL and UL listed under file #E71073.

Box and lid are made from diecast aluminum alloy, which is rugged yet easy to machine, and the unpainted version is vibra finished for a smooth surface with no sharp edges. A pre-formed, one-piece silicone rubber gasket sits in the lid groove and is rated -40°C to +150°C (-40°F to 302°F). Two stainless steel Philips head cover screws (M4 - 0.7 x 20mm) sit outside the gasket area, so no o-rings are needed; recommended torque is 5-7.5 lbf.in (50-75 cN.m).

Listed size is 1.98 in x 1.78 in x 1.2 in (50 mm x 45 mm x 30 mm), with a 0.24 in (6 mm) lid height. The drawing gives an inside length of 44.28 mm [1.74 in], inside width of 39.28 mm [1.55 in] and inside depth of 25.40 mm [1.00 in]; maximum PC board size is 38.61 mm x 43.31 mm. With no internal ribs, connectors go in without additional milling. Blind thru-box holes, accessed outside the gasket ring, allow wall mounting, and the box accepts a #6 self-tapping ground screw.

The 1550Z101 carries an IP68 rating and NEMA 4, 4X, 12 & 13 ratings; the series was independently tested to IP66, IP67 and IP68, and Hammond advises customers to conduct their own testing for their application. Note that this is the one 1550Z size without the IK08 impact rating. The part is RoHS and REACH compliant, ships in shrink wrap and weighs 0.15 lbs (0.07 kg).
