Hammond 1550WP 80 x 55 mm Slim Diecast Aluminum Box, IP66 Gasket

The 1550WP is a compact, very slim watertight diecast aluminum enclosure from the 1550 Series, listed at 80 mm x 55 mm x 21 mm and supplied in natural aluminum with an IP66 gasket. It fits small sensor modules, interface boards and handheld-scale electronics where a flat metal housing is preferred.

It is die-cast from aluminum alloy that is tough yet easy to machine, and vibra finished for a smooth surface with no sharp edges. A lap joint protects against dust and splashing water, and M3.5 x 0.6 x 12 mm stainless steel Philips head machine screws secure the lid into factory tapped holes.

Hammond lists the 1550WP at 3.15 in x 2.17 in x 0.83 in (80 mm x 55 mm x 21 mm). The series table gives 3.15 x 2.17 x 0.98 in (80 x 55 x 25 mm), with the 4 mm (0.16 in) lid included. The drawing shows an inside box length of 76.13 mm [3.00 in] and inside box width of 51.33 mm [2.02 in]. Shipping weight is 0.18 lbs (0.08 kg).

With no internal ribs, connectors can be installed without interference, and the 2° lower side-wall draft angle helps when mounting a PC board. The included EVA foam gasket ships loose inside, is rated up to 65°C (149°F) and provides IP66 when properly installed with lid screws torqued at 55 cN.m.

The 1550WP is RoHS and REACH compliant and packed in shrink wrap. Replacement IP66 gaskets are 1550PEGASKET and IP67 silicone upgrade gaskets are 1550PSGASKET. Factory modification and .stp or .x_t models are available.
